1 Killed, 2 Wounded in Helmand Attack

A service member was killed and two others wounded when they were attacked in Helmand province, Afghanistan, Jan. 5. The Pentagon announced that the three “came under fire” while on a training mission in the town of Marjah. An Air Force HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter recovered the body of the deceased service member and rescued the two wounded comrades, the Pentagon reported. Several Afghan special-operations fighters were among the casualties as well.
