Three of the 19 women initially selected to take part in Army Ranger School still have a chance to earn the tan beret. As of June 1, the three female soldiers were among the eight who were eligible to try the first “Darby phase” of Ranger training again, at Camp Rogers on Fort Benning, Ga. The other five were returned to their units. Because the Army will not compromise the standards set for soldiers who want to wear the Ranger Tab, female soldiers must meet the same criteria as their male counterparts.
