The Air Force no longer requires members to serve as voting assistance officers, under the newly streamlined Air Force Voting Assistance Program. The service made the change to free airmen from a collateral task that pulls them away from their core duties. The voting-assistance program still will help airmen and their families register to vote, fill out absentee ballots, and answer related questions. They would find the help they need at base Airman and Family Readiness Centers. More information is available at the Air Force Voting Assistance web page,, and the Federal Voting Assistance Program web page,
