Reacting to reports that North Korea conducted a test of a nuclear weapon, a B-52 bomber based at Anderson Air Base, Guam, flew a low-level mission over South Korea Jan. 10. U.S. Air Force F-16s and South Korean air force F-15s accompanied the bomber. Air Force officials stated the mission was intended to reaffirm U.S. commitment to South Korea’s security.
