Six crewmembers escaped injury when their C-130 aircraft made a hard landing Aug. 17 at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. The plane, configured as a Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System, is attached to the Wyoming Air National Guard’s 153rd Airlift Wing at Cheyenne, Wyo. The unit is part of U.S. Northern Command. The crew had to execute the emergency landing after they became aware of a problem with the plane’s front landing gear. The aircraft sustained some damage after the landing, including one small fire.
