The Coast Guard Cutter Diligence returned to its homeport of Wilmington, N.C., Feb. 9, after a 62-day deployment that resulted in seizure of almost 5,500 pounds of cocaine, which would have fetched more than $60 million if sold on the street. Diligence’s crew made the seizures while patrolling the Eastern Pacific Ocean, with U.S. Southern Command’s Joint Interagency Task Force South’s Operation Martillo — a drug-interdiction mission that focused on the waters that stretched from Mexico to Panama.
