The Navy plans to name the next two Arleigh Burke-class destroyers after Marines who earned the Medal of Honor, Seapower Magazine reported Sept. 19 . DDG 125 will be named Jack H. Lucas, after a man who earned the nation’s highest honor for combat valor at age 17 during the Battle of Iwo Jima when he dived on two live grenades. It will be built at Huntington Ingalls Industries shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss. DDG 126 will be named Louis H. Wilson Jr., after the former commandant. Wilson received the Medal of Honor on Guam in World War II. It will be built at Bath Iron Works in Maine. The Navy expects both ships to join the fleet sometime in 2023.
