According to officials at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service, the Army and DFAS have gone a long way towards fixing pay glitches that have affected more than 90 percent of activated Soldiers in Army Guard and Reserve units. Problems still exist with an obsolete software program, but they should be invisible to the next rotation of Guard and Reserve troops into Iraq and Afghanistan, says a senior defense pay spokesman. He advised all service members to review their leave and earnings statements routinely, and question pay irregularities through the chain of command. In addition Army reservists can call 1-608-388-6466 or DSN 280-6466, and Army National Guard members can call 1-877-276-4729. Family members with powers of attorney also can call the respective numbers.
