The Air Force deployed four F-22 Raptor fighters and one C-17 Globemaster III transport to Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, Aug. 28, to train with U.S. and allied forces through September. The deployment marks the first time F-22s have been used for the mission of providing security in Europe. The fighters are attached to the 95th Fighter Squadron, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. The C-17 is attached to the Travis Air Force Base, Calif.-based 60th Airlift Wing. A contingent of 60 airmen moved to Spangdahlem to support the aircraft during the tour.
