The Air Force has deployed F-35A Lightning II fighter aircraft to RAF Lakenheath, Great Britain. The planes are from the 388th and 419th Fighter Wings, home-based at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Their presence is aimed at bolstering NATO capabilities. They will train and fly with fellow NATO and U.S. European Command (EURCOM) partners. “These aircraft, plus more importantly, the men and women who operate them, [fortify] the capacity and capability of our NATO Alliance,” Army Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti said. Scaparrotti is commander of both NATO and EURCOM.
