Former Marine, Now Star Wars Actor, Wants To Promote Theater

Adam Driver, who plays the grim Kylo Ren in the movie “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” wants others who had served in uniform to try their hand at theater. Driver joined the Marine Corps after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, but had to leave after three years because of an injury. Since then, besides becoming wildly famous for his role in what is perhaps the most celebrated film franchise in motion picture history, Driver established the Arts in the Armed Forces organization 10 years ago. To mark its anniversary, he is sponsoring a playwriting contest for service members, their families, and veterans. The winner will receive $10,000. Guidelines are available online at www.aitaf.org.
