The Army and General Motors unveiled a version of the company’s Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, powered by a fuel cell electric motor, at the Association of the U.S. Army exposition in Washington, D.C., last week. Once such vehicles become operational, they would operate more quietly than those powered by conventional internal-combustion engines, and save fuel as well. The trucks also would be able to provide external electric power and water generation. Army and GM engineers developed the vehicle at the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center in Warren, Mich.
