Seventy-three percent of all Americans are confident in the military, according to a Gallup poll conducted June 1-5. As such, the armed forces rate higher than any other institution. That confidence level is lower among those who call themselves “liberal” and young persons. According to Gallup, 59 percent of all liberals have high confidence in the military. For persons ages 18 to 29, that figure is 60 percent. Republicans have an 82-percent confidence level in the military, while for Democrats, the figure is 65 percent. The margin of error among the poll’s sampling is plus or minus four percentage points at the 95-percent confidence level.
