Police in Denton, Texas, arrested Marine Corps Cpl. Eric Jamal Johnson Jan. 5, and charged him with the New Year’s Day slaying of 20-year-old Sara Mutschechner, a college student. Police records show that Mutschechner died of a gunshot to the head – allegedly by Johnson – while driving her vehicle with a group of friends after leaving a party in the Texas town. Johnson was a passenger in another vehicle, which police say was following Muschechner’s car while they shouted at each other. She died at the scene. Police said surveillance video later identified Johnson as the primary suspect in the young woman’s death. He was arrested at his duty station, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz.
