A Marine Corps officer’s quick action helped save the life of a truck driver who suffered a stroke behind the wheel. First Lt. Morgan White, a communications officer, was on her way to work at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., on Feb. 6, when she saw the man’s truck parked to the side of the road. When she looked closer, White noticed that the man was shaking. She quickly pulled over and began to administer first aid. She also called 911. In time, another motorist stopped to help as well. Morgan and the other person kept the stricken driver’s airway clear and tried to help him breathe until paramedics arrived to take him to the hospital. “I don’t know what would have happened if no one had stopped. I was very thankful that I made the decision and was able to help him,” White said. She is attached to Marine Wing Support Squadron 274, Marine Aircraft Group 14, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, based at Cherry Point.
