The Marine Corps is asking industry to provide solutions to coastal-defense threats. Seapower Magazine reported that the service has issued a Request for Information (RFI), which acknowledged that the service is “not organized, trained, and equipped to meet the demands of a future operating environment.” Industry should propose plans to develop shore-based, coastal-defense systems that could reach attacking ships at distances of 80 miles or greater. The service has set a Nov. 30 deadline for prospective developers to provide their plans.
