The Navy took delivery of the newest littoral combat ship, the Detroit, Aug. 12. The transfer took place during a ceremony at Fincantieri Marinette Marine shipyard in Wisconsin, where Detroit was built. Scheduled for commissioning in October, Detroit would become the sixth littoral combat ship to join the fleet. Like other vessels in its class, the ship will have anti-submarine warfare and surface and mine countermeasures capabilities.
