TRICARE, the military’s managed health-care system, no longer will offer walk-up administrative services for beneficiaries in the U.S. By closing 189 stateside walk-up facilities, the agency said it would save $250 million during the next five years. Beneficiaries who seek assistance on administrative matters – such as in- and out-processing, requests to change primary-care providers, and billing-related matters – will be able to do so online or by telephone. Walk-up services will continue for beneficiaries stationed overseas. The change does not affect any existing medical benefits.
