Veterans will continue to have access to private health-care facilities closer to their homes and more ready to provide quick appointments. President Trump signed into law April 19 a measure extending the Veterans Choice Program Improvement Act, which allowed for the additional avenues of health care for service-connected medical conditions. Under the original plan, which was signed into law by President Obama in 2014, the program was scheduled to end on August 7. House Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Rep. Phil Roe, R-Tenn., a physician, sponsored the measure.
