Miscreant employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs can be fired more easily now. President Trump signed the VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection ACT into law June 23, which will hold the department’s personnel more accountable for their actions. The law also offers protection to VA employees who come forward with reports of misconduct among their peers and superiors. The law, which emerged after scandals centering upon misinformation and poor treatment of veterans rocked VA a few years ago, drew large bipartisan support, as well as praise from veterans’ service organizations.
