The Department of Veterans Affairs has selected two companies — Delta Dental of California and MetLife — to provide private dental insurance. Under the VA Dental Insurance Program (VADIP), enrolled veterans and their beneficiaries who are signed up for the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the VA (CHAMPVA) can enroll on Nov. 17 and begin receiving coverage on Dec. 1. The coverage includes discounts on diagnostic, preventive, endodontic, restorative, surgical and emergency services. Those who enroll will have to pay the entire premium plus copayments. Enrollment is voluntary. Persons eligible for VA outpatient dental services and treatment would continue to get it.
