An unidentified female Marine Corps officer has failed in her attempt to complete infantry training. American Military News reported that the woman was let go in April, after 11 days of training, and failed again July 18. The female officer will be assigned to a non-combat military occupational specialty. There are no other women in the infantry-training pipeline. The Marine Corps maintained that qualification standards would not be compromised, even as Defense Secretary Ash Carter called for opening all military billets to anyone who can meet them.
