Federal Manager's Daily Report

OPM has reminded agencies of their obligations under the Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Assessment Act of 2015 and its guidance issued in January.

By now, agencies should have established procedures for identifying and coding currently filled and vacant civilian positions with information technology, cybersecurity, and cyber-related functions, a memo said.

Agencies have until next April to complete the coding, which the memo called “foundational to cybersecurity workforce planning.”

OPM also instructed agencies to report their points of contact so that it can “check in with you periodically to ask about any assistance needed as well as progress made in cybersecurity position coding.” In May, OPM said, it will ask agencies to show that coding procedures are in place.
