Federal Manager's Daily Report

The GPO has finished one of the major initiatives toward digitization of government records, with all issues of the Federal Register dating to its beginning in 1936 now available online and through smartphones and tablet applications.

The project included more than 14,587 individual issues covering some 2 million pages of regulations, executive orders–the first published there, on March 14 of that year, enlarged the Cape Romain Migratory Bird Refuge in South Carolina–and other executive branch actions.

The GPO and the Office of the Federal Register termed the project “a great leap in providing public access to an important collection of 20th Century federal government documents.”

The Federal Register, produced each regular business day, has been “born digital” since 1994, they added.
