OPM has said it will hold a Federal IT/Cybersecurity Talent Summit to help agencies fill such positions and retain employee in those fields, encouraging involvement by officials from HR, CIO and information security offices, as well as administrative officers and hiring managers.

“Federal agencies are working together to identify existing successful practices and forward-leaning strategies that will help the federal government build a IT/cybersecurity workforce pipeline, as well as recruit, hire, and retain top talent,” it said.

Topics will include challenges and solutions for recruiting, hiring, and retaining in those positions; use of special hiring authorities and recruitment and retention incentives; best practices from agencies that have had success in addressing cybersecurity talent needs; and tools and resources agencies can use to build their IT/cybersecurity workforce plans.

The event will be held at OPM headquarters May 17 starting at 1 p.m. In-person attendance is limited but it will be webcast as well. Registration information is at  https://community.max.gov/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=1440778657
