The Naval Supply Systems Command has signed a memo of understanding to use GSA’s reverse auction application, in which sellers compete to win business from agencies, with prices decreasing as a competitive auction progresses.

Reverse auctions typically are used for common office products, equipment, and services.

GSA’s platform, launched in 2013, facilitates reverse auctions on multiple award schedule contracts, blanket purchase agreements, non-GSA contracts, and open market procurements.

The Navy has been a pilot agency for GSA in making enhancements to the platform, including the addition of open market procurements in 2015.
