The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has approved:
S-2178, to require the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency to publicly post recommendations of agency IGs that have not been carried out within a year by the federal entity responsible, along with government-wide data on such reports.
S-2296, to require that all agencies publicly post all current guidance documents and similar directives that impose requirements on individuals and businesses but that did not go through formal rule-making procedures.
S-2413, to place new restrictions on agency use of “bridge” contracts, which extend existing contracts without full and open competition.
HR-2825, a DHS reauthorization bill that outlines responsibilities for the chief privacy officer, chief financial officer and the chief information officer of DHS; establishes the positions of chief procurement officer and chief security officer; makes the under secretary for management responsible for acquisition management; makes permanent the Acquisition Review Board to review major acquisition programs, and share best practices; and requires the department to craft and carry out a multiyear acquisition strategy.
