Expect another run this year — possibly beginning within weeks — at group long-term care insurance for federal employees and their families. The National Association of Retired Federal Employees and other groups are pushing the effort, which they see as a major new benefit for their members. Last year’s initiative went a lot farther than many had expected and there seems a good chance of gaining a consensus that would make group LTC available to federal workers and retirees and their family members. New leadership in key congressional committees will take up the matter soon. There’s no guarantee that group LTC will pass or when it first would be offered after approval, however. Waiting too long can be a costly mistake. Meanwhile, you can read more about LTC insurance by clicking on the WAEPA banner on our homepage at http://www.fedweek.com.
