The House is expected to vote soon on a special funding bill for the current fiscal year containing two provisions of special interest to federal employees. One provision would repeal language passed last year that delays the last paycheck of the current fiscal year for many employees by several days in order to push the cost into the next fiscal year. The other provision would increase the subsidies available to employees for commuting via public transit and would require improved facilities for those who bike, walk or run to work. The latter would apply only in the Washington, D.C. area but likely would set precedent for other areas, as well.
