A newly offered Senate bill (S-1757) would increase the number of Border Patrol agents, Custom and Border Protection officers at ports, agricultural inspectors, ICE officers, immigration judges, and federal prosecutors involved in immigration issues.

It also would increase funding for ports of entry to target illegal immigration and drug trafficking while authorizing partnerships between DHS and state and local law enforcement and strengthening investigative powers of both federal and non-federal officers.

It has the endorsement of the National Border Patrol Council and the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Coalition, among other law enforcement organizations.
