Roth TSP Change for Civilians Begins

Civilian Defense Department employees now have more flexibility in the way they can contribute to the Roth Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). As of June 25, civilians will be able to contribute to their TSP accounts on an after-tax basis. Thus, when they become eligible to withdraw funds from their plan, the money will not be subject to income tax. Contributions must not exceed the elective deferral limits, set at $17,000 for regular contributions and $5,500 for catch-up contributions. Other conditions apply. For more information, visit the Thrift Savings Plan Web site at http://www.tsp.gov.
