The Office of Personnel Management is touting the rollout of its new RetireEZ retirement processing system as a success, saying that the system is producing quicker full retirement payments for those affected.


About 26,000 federal employees are now covered by the system and that other employees will continue to be phased in over roughly the next year. The phase-in is being done according to payroll provider, with employees in agencies serviced by the General Services Administration going in first.


For now, at least, OPM is processing retirement applications of covered employees under both the newly automated system and under the legacy system, and in the majority of cases, the calculations match, it said. In addition, affected employees no longer receive
