2020 COLA Set at 1.6 Percent

Military retirees, veterans, their survivors and other recipients from the Defense and Veterans Affairs departments will receive a 1.6-percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) on Jan 1. The raise is based on the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers, a monthly calculation of the price of goods and services made by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
