Fifty junior airmen who were not selected for retention during fiscal year 2014, which ended Oct. 1, will be allowed to remain on active duty. The Air Force announced Oct. 24 that the Junior Enlisted Retention Board identified an eligibility issue, which affected 36 candidates for early separation. Further investigation determined that a total of 50 such airmen met the criteria, and would be retained. The service is in the process of notifying those airmen of their new status. The issue involved a coding mistake.
