Air Force spouses could receive as much as $500 for re-licensure and recertification when they relocate to new duty stations. The service announced May 15 that its re-licensure reimbursement program would apply to spouses who lose their certifications due to permanent-change-of-station (PCS) moves or assignments across state lines, retroactive to Dec. 12, 2017.
The service instituted the program as a result of a related provision in the 2027 defense-spending bill. Spouses could use the money to offset their expenses for relicensing fees associated with exams, certifications and registration, and would cover professions such as teaching, cosmetology, real estate, and nursing. Recipients must use the reimbursement for those purposes within 24 months of receiving it.
