The Air Force wants to help airmen comply with new fitness standards. As the service reviews the related guidance it issues to airmen, the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) has begun offering diagnostic assessments, which will more or less resemble mock tests. Airmen would be able to take as many as three of these assessments anywhere from 45 days before their official assessment month to 15 days before their assessments are due. They will have the option of taking the complete test, or portions — such as push-ups or sit-ups. Airmen who complete the full test can choose to have the results serve as the results count as their official result, as stipulated by the Air Force Fitness Management System. Installations and specific units should have further guidance for this interim plan, which will remain in effect until a formal policy is issued.
