AF Unveils Next Long-Range Bomber

The Air Force believes next long-range bomber – the B-21 – would employ upgrades to existing technology to develop a platform that would meet the service’s strategic needs for the next 50 years. Unveiled Feb. 26 at the Air Force Association Air Warfare Symposium in Orlando, Fla., the new plane would bear a close resemblance to the B-2 Spirit. Present plans call for fielding the plane by the mid-2020s. In the meantime, the Air Force plans to solicit suggestions from the ranks for a name for the plane.
