Holders of the Medal of Honor and former prisoners of war would be entitled to burial with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery, under legislation now pending on Capitol Hill. Funeral ceremonies for these veterans would include an escort honor platoon, military band, firing party, and horse-drawn caisson. Presently, senior officers, non-commissioned officers, and service members killed in combat are entitled to full military honors at Arlington. Reps. Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.), Van Taylor (R-Texas), Elaine Luria (D-Va.), and Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) sponsored the legislation.
