Businesses that lose essential employees who are called up for active duty in the reserves or National Guard could get help. A bill pending before the Senate, S. 3009, would expand eligibility requirements for the Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster-load program. Under the expansion, these businesses would be eligible for federal help in cases of deployments not associated with military conflict. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., sponsored the measure.
