Sergeant Maj. Troy E. Black, who now serves at the Marine Corps’ office of Manpower and Reserve Affairs, will become the service’s senior enlisted member. Gen. Robert B. Neller, the commandant, has selected Black to replace outgoing Sgt. Maj. Ronald L. Green as the 19thSergeant Major of the Marine Corps. Since enlisting in 1988, Black served in Operations Desert Storm/ Shield, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, as well as numerous other Marine amphibious units. He also experienced multiple Fleet Anti-Terrorism Team Company deployments, and served as Sergeant Major of Officer Candidates School, he 11thMarine Expeditionary Unit, and the 1stMarine Logistics Group. His awards include a Legion of Merit with Gold Star and a Bronze Star medal with Combat Distinguishing Device.
