Sailors, Marines and Coast Guard members now have more options when paying their tuition assistance (TA) debts. The Navy announced that it now would accept payments via electronic funds transfer (EFT). PayPal is also an option, as long as the account is linked to a bank debit or credit card. Credit cards will not be accepted. Previously, service members had to repay their tuition assistance debts with a cashier’s check, money order or payroll transaction. The old system was cumbersome – sometimes it took anywhere from a week to 45 days to complete a transaction. Now, transactions should clear in about two hours. Users should be able to view them on their tuition assistance accounts by the next business day.
