Soldiers and families should have a better shot at being connected with good sponsors when moving to new duty stations. Key areas of the Total Army Sponsorship Program are changing, to better protect all soldiers – particularly those who may be at higher risk of not getting proper sponsors.

From now on, soldiers, non-commissioned officers and officers between the ranks of private through staff sergeant and second lieutenant through captain must have sponsor assignments at their new duty stations before they leave their old ones.

The same requirement applies to warrant officers 1 and 2. Commanders would remain responsible for the program, and can delegate duties accordingly.
