Step by step, large projection TVs are making their way into the exchange system. In June of last year defense officials asked Congress to ease some of the sales restrictions dating from World War II and the House agreed. On July 28 of this year, the Senate Armed Services personnel subcommittee passed its okay to the Defense Department. The next step is for DoD to issue guidance to the exchanges. The Navy Exchange Service Command already has ordered projection TVs, according to a spokesperson, and if it has received them by the time DoD publishes its directive, it will be in position to move them onto the sales floors. The Army and Air Force Exchange Service says it can get the first sets into sales rooms two-to-three weeks after notification. Marine Corps officials have not published a time table.
