The Coast Guard cutter Escanaba pulled into Port Everglades, Fla., Aug. 8 with 3.1 tons of cocaine seized during recent operations in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Escanaba and the cutter Decisive found the contraband while conducting at-sea interdictions near the Central and South American coastlines – known transit routes for drug traffickers. Escanaba, a 270-foot medium-endurance cutter, is homeported in Boston. Decisive is a 210-foot medium-endurance cutter, homeported in Pascagoula, Miss.
