The F-35C Lightning II is ready for operations on aircraft carriers. The commanders of Navy and Marine Corps aviation made the declaration Feb. 28, after the aircraft completed qualifications conducted by Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147 on the carrier Carl Vinson. The process also included determinations that ships are ready to provide support, spare parts, tools, publications, training, and a functioning Autonomic Logistic Information System.
“The F-35C is ready for operations, ready for combat and ready to win, said Vice Adm. DeWolfe Miller, Commander of Naval Air Forces. The plane “significantly enhances the capability of the joint force,” he said.
