Chelsey Hibsch, an Air Force first lieutenant, became the first female airman to earn an Army Ranger tab. Hibsch, a former enlisted airman, pinned on the tab during an Aug. 30 ceremony at the Army Ranger School at Fort Benning, Ga.

Hibsch came to Ranger school from the 374thSecurity Forces Squadron at Yokota Air Base, Japan. She initially qualified to attend Ranger school after attending and passing the Air Force’s Ranger Assessment Course at the Air Force Security Forces Center at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Upon completing that phase, Hibsch then attended Tropic Lightning Academy at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

She now moves on to serve as flight commander of the Travis Air Force Base, Calif.-based 821stContingency Response Squadron.
