Two sailors stationed aboard the carrier Harry S. Truman were injured when an F/A-18C Hornet caught fire on the flight deck Aug. 11. Firefighters on the ship immediately extinguished the blaze. The plane was parked and undergoing refueling when the incident occurred, the Navy stated. The pilot ejected safely and landed on the flight deck. A sailor was injured as well. Both were transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C., for attention for non-life threatening injuries. The plane was attached to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 106.
