The Italian government has agreed to allow the U.S. to fly drone missions from bases within the country, the Wall Street Journal reported Feb. 22. The unmanned aerial vehicles would conduct attacks against Islamic State assets in Libya from “a base in Sicily,” according to media reports – likely, Sigonella Air Base. Reports also stated that the Italian government would retain the right to consent before any such mission takes place.
