Fire controllers who rely upon Aegis Ashore systems would have improved abilities to detect and destroy targets, thanks to several enhancements. Aegis Ashore, a land-based version of the shipboard combat system, is now being fielded in Romania and soon will be placed in Poland.

Lockheed Martin Corp, Aegis Ashore’s manufacturer, connected it with its Long range Discrimination Radar (LRDR) and proved that the two systems can work well in tandem during recent tests.

The system would:

* Detect targets at longer distances.

* Fight against a larger number of targets simultaneously.

* Provide additional target-enhancement opportunities.

* Perform better in “complicated land environments.”

* Minimally interfere with civilian and other military radio senders and receivers.

* Increase the performance of the new SM-3 Block IIA missile.
