Starting Jan. 1, Marines will have to meet higher standards in order to pass the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Combat Fitness Test (CFT). Effective immediately, they must meet new Body Composition Program (BCP) criteria. The height and weight standards for female Marines have increased. Also, Marines who score 285 or higher on PFT and CFT will be exempt from having to meet the stringent body-fat standards under the BCP. For the PFT, the service is implementing a pull-up/push-up test that would replace the flex arm hang women now must complete. All Marines will have to complete more crunches than before, with the number determined by age and gender.
